Windsor to Teddington, 1st June - 25 miles

Hello Dear reader,

This will be the last posting before I do the actual challenge on 15th June. This is my last training walk, to enable my feet and muscles to recover, and boy do they need it after this final challenge. My poor feet are likes blocks of raw meat.

For this final challenge, I chose to finalise the route along the Thames pathway I started in Henley 6 weeks ago.

I am not going to say much, simply that it was hot, dull and very painful indeed. It really is not good practice to walk on hard paved towpaths for 25 miles. it simply mashes your feet, creates blisters and bruises your heels.

So here we go:

I started at 08.30 am and finished at 16.25 and completed 25 miles, which means I averaged over 3 miles per hour including any brief stops.

Rufus took his first dip of the day as soon as he could get down to the river.

Why does Rufus always look so guilty?

One of my wavey green grass shots!

Come on Daddy!

View from one of the many river crossings I had to make.

Lovely house fronting onto the riverbank

After a very painful last 10 miles, the footbridge over the Thames at Teddington Lock comes into view.

A welcome sight

A very proud Rufus

Come on Daddy, let's get a pint!
Job done. See you in 2 weeks at Fort William and the start of my 48 hours from hell! If all goes well, I could be in the record books by Monday evening!
